大学の応用外国語学部を卒業したばかりです。就職前に英語力を磨くためにミライズ留学にきました。台湾に戻ったら、就職活動を始めます。
I just graduated from the Department of Applied Foreign Languages. I come to the Philippines to enhance my English ability right before I get an offer of a job. I’ll have job hunting after I go back to Taiwan.
大学では英語を使っていましたか？Did you use English when you were in the university?
学校の勉強で英語を使いますし、英語を話す機会もたまにあります。日常生活となると、英語を使う機会はほとんどありません。
I used English when I studied at school, but there are fewer chances to speak English. Not to say in daily life, there is very little opportunity to use English.
どうしてフィリピン・セブ島に来ようと思ったのですか？Why do you decide to come to the Philippines?
台湾には英語を話す環境がありません。そこで、フィリピン・セブ島は台湾から近いですし、フィリピン人は標準なアメリカのアクセントを話すからです。
大学を卒業したばかりで少し時間があったので、そんなフィリピンで英語のスピーキング力を高めようと思いました。
There is no English-speaking environment in Taiwan. The Philippines is the closest country to Taiwan and has a standard American English accent. I just graduated from college, I’ve got some free time, so I would like to strengthen my English speaking ability in the Philippines.

大学で英語を学んでいる時は、先生が学術関連の英語に力を入れていて、ビジネス英語のような実用的な英語をあまり学ぶ機会はありませんでした。さらに、私はすでにある程度の英語のスピーキング力があると思っているので、フィリピンの語学学校を探すときには、将来仕事でも使える実践的な英語が学べることを軸に探していました。
ミライズ留学の指導レベルは他の語学学校よりずっと高くて、カリキュラムもビジネス英語や、社会人向けに作られているものが多くありました。ほとんどの生徒は就業経験がありますし、私は帰国後に就職をするので、ミライズ留学は私にピッタリだなと思い、選びました。
When I was studying English at the university, teachers put more emphasize on academic-related English, and there was fewer English ability that would be practically used in the commercial field.
Because I already had a certain English-speaking ability, therefore, when I was looking for a language school in the Philippines, I tend to focus on the English learning, which I could use after I enter the workplace.
I found that MeRISE's teaching level is higher than any other language schools. The courses are mostly business English and specially designed for business people. Most of the students in the school have working experience. Because I will go back to Taiwan after the study and prepare to enter the workplace, so MeRISE becomes my ideal choice.
ミライズ留学での英語学習はいかがでしたか？How was your study at MeRISE English Academy?
ミライズ留学での学習経験を通して、台湾に居るときには自分では気づけなかった英語の弱点や、問題点をたくさん発見することができました。すべて英語で行うレッスンなので、先生の正しい英語の発音を聞くことで、自分が何を改善するべきかがわかりました。
Gel先生は一番厳しい先生だったので、彼女のクラスでかなり上達したと思います。彼女のレッスンでは、文献を覚えるのに役立つリーディングスキルを教えて頂けました。
Karen先生は、頭の中で記事の状況を想像することで学習する方法を教えてくれました。他にも、簡潔に英語で話をする方法も教わりましたが、今までは聞かれたことに対してどのように簡潔に答えるかが分からなかったので、とても助かりました。
私は英語の発音が苦手で、どのように改善すればよいか途方に暮れていました。しかし、Remi先生が”th”の発音方法、イントネーション、接続詞を教えてくださった後、自分の問題点を見つけられて、改善すべきことがわかりました。おかげで、より自信をもって英語を話せるようになりました。
During my studies at MeRISE, I found that there were many English problems that I didn't notice when I was studying in Taiwan. In the English learning environment, teachers with fairly standard English accents can help me find many ways for improvement.
Ms. Gel is the strictest teacher in my class in Cebu, therefore my English has improved. Also, during the class, Ms. Gel taught the skill of reading which is helpful for me to memorize the article quickly.
During the studies, Ms. Karen gives a lot of image to me, let me imagine the situation to create an article. Besides, she taught me how to organize the speaking clearly, it is important for me, because I didn't know how to make a comprehensive answer.
My weakness in English is pronunciation, but I don't know how to improve my problem. After Ms. Remi taught me the American "th" sound, intonation and the connecting word, I knew the problem clearly, then I practice the pronunciation to improve myself. It makes me have the confidence to speak English.
以前に比べ、自分の中で何か変化はありましたか？What has changed yourself compare to before?
ミライズ留学はほとんどが日本人の生徒で、皆さん就業経験があり、セブ島でも一生懸命英語を勉強していました。周りの方々が英語学習にとても積極的なのを見て、自分のモチベーションを上げることができました。
Most of the students in MeRISE are Japanese, they all have working experience, and they work hard when they’re studying in Cebu. It motivates me to learn English when I saw Japanese students working very hard on their studies.
フィリピン・セブ島で週末は楽しみましたか？Did you enjoy your weekends and holidays in Cebu?
とても楽しい週末をフィリピン・セブ島で過ごせました！特にボホールのジップラインと、オスロブにある「Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church」の華々しい眺めが印象的です。たくさんの思い出を作ることができました。
セブ島での食事もおいしかったです。ミライズ留学の校舎の近くにあるBoosogというフィリピン料理店がとてもおいしくて、完全にフィリピン料理の虜になりました。
平日の夜や祝日には、クラスメートと一緒にジムにも行きました。たくさんの器具があって、設備にはとても満足です。
I like the holiday during the time that I staying in Cebu! Especially the Zipline in Bohol I went to and the spectacular view of "Our Lady of Immaculate Concepcion Church" in Oslob, I have many wonderful memories of Cebu.
Cebu’s cuisine is also great, especially the Philippine cuisine at the restaurant “Boosog” near the school is quite delicious, making me fall in love with traditional Filipino cuisine.
On weekday evenings or holidays, sometimes, I go to the gym with my classmates. I'm quite satisfied with the quality and the well-equipped gymnasium.
今回のフィリピン・セブ島留学を通して、英語力は上達したと思いすか？Do you think your English ability has already improved through this study abroad?
ミライズ留学前は、英語の発音はまだまだだと感じていました。先生に教わった後は、正確に発音できるようになったと実感しています。まだ働き始めていないですが、事前にビジネス英語を学べてとてもよかったです。将来にも役立つと思います。
Before coming to MeRISE, I felt that I was not good enough in English pronunciation. After the teacher's teaching, my pronunciation is more accurate.
Although I haven't started to work yet. But it's good that I can learn business English skills in advance and feel that it can helps me with my future work.
今後はどのように英語力を維持していきますか？How do you keep your English competence in the future?
今後は、英語を活用できる仕事を見つけて、英語を使う習慣を失わないようにしたいです。継続して、英語力の向上を目指します。
In the future, I may find a job that requires English skill and maintains the habit of using English from my work. It can also continue to improve my English skill.
フィリピン・セブ島留学後は何かする予定はありますか？Do you have any plans after study abroad?
台湾に戻ったら、仕事を探し始めます。もし将来、転職することや、オンザジョブトレーニングをする機会があった時には、また英語力を高めに、フィリピンにも来たいです。
After going back to Taiwan, I am ready to find a job. If there is a chance to change jobs or on-the-job training in the future, I still want to come to the Philippines to strengthen my English-speaking ability.
